Mr. Wolfgang Walter Horn

After studying law and passing the Second State Examination (Grosses Staatsexamen) cum laude, Mr Horn founded his own law firm in Hamburg in March 1981. In 2003 he also completed training as a mediator at the DeutscheAnwaltAkademie, and from 2015 to 2022 he also worked as a Dutch lawyer (advocaat) in Amsterdam.

Since his retirement, he has continued to advise Bavelaar Advocaten and its clients as of counsel on cross-border legal matters. Mr Horn specialises in the law of damages and liability, road traffic law (including classic car law) and employment law for employers.

Born in 1953 in rural southern Germany, he grew up with horses from an early age and until a few years ago was a show jumper and horse owner himself. In more than four decades as a Rechtsanwalt and advocaat, he has become one of the best-known specialists in equine law and is therefore a highly qualified contact for all equestrian matters in Germany. In cross-border equine cases he works closely with Dr. Paul Bavelaar.

Mr Horn is a member of legal and equestrian organisations, including the Committee for Law and Taxation of the German-Dutch Chamber of Commerce, the Deutsche Akademie für Verkehrswissenschaft e.V. and the F.F.P. Verein zur Förderung der Forschung im Pferdesport e.V., of which he is also a board member.
